Once the capital of the kingdom of Saba, Ma'rib is now the most famous archaeological site in Yemen. Relatively easy accessible via a half-day-desert-run, it is an absolute must for every visitor.

The 8th century BC Great Dam turned the virtually rainless land into a greenhouse long ago.

Some isolated kidnappings occured in the Ma'rib area in recent years, but the government is taking every step to ensure their visitor's safety. For the first time, a kidnapper has been taken to court and was sentenced to 20 years in jail.
